Tableau Conference 2020 – All the highlights of Day 3

Tableau Conference 2020 is taking place in a different format than what we’re used to. It’s a “Tableau Conference-ish”. It’s not what we’re used to, but what is great about it is that if you’re connecting from your home office, your bedroom or your couch you’re still able to join the data event of the year. Oh…and we’re all sitting first row!

TC20 is taking place fully online and for free, allowing many more of us to join. However, it’s possible that if you’re working from home, you’re not able to take time off for the event. For this reason we want to get you up to speed quickly with this blog – so you won’t miss stuff out!

In this blog: Anatomy of a dashboard / How Developers Help YOU Get it Done: The DataDev Magic / Anatomy of a Dashboard – Retail and Enterprise / Data Literacy with Ben Jones

Anatomy of a dashboard

This session focused on HR data. The focus was on how to gain insights thanks to HR dashboard design best practices and tips, using an insurance HR dashboard for illustration. Katie Wagner also deep-dived into the use of containers to build effective dashboards. If you would like to know more about this we also have an interesting blog on the topic

How Developers Help YOU Get it Done: The DataDev Magic

The Devs, like for all conferences, have been major players of Tableau Conference 2020. This session definitely had us blown away! In this session we could check out all the stuff the developers have built to make Tableau stronger for users like us! What has blown us away was:

  • Analytics extension: integrate Tableau with advanced models in R, Python and Matlab with the data science library
  • Now you can notify Alexa when your dashboard is ready!
  • Salesforce: the devs showed how to embed Tableau dashboard into Salesforce
  • Data Connectivity: get data into Tableau via customer connector or extract
